The Good Hope Quilters Guild. We have approx 300 members and meet quarterly, February, May, August, and November. We are the umbrella guild for the whole of the Western Cape area, covering 24 groups of different sizes. We have interesting guest speakers and demos at each meeting, with a block draw, vendors selling fabric and quilt-related items. At the November meeting we have a ‘Teachers Sampler Day’, where we set up teachers demonstrating their specialty, ie.double bindings, easy borders, embellishment etc. We also make many quilts for worthy causes, such as SOS Children’s Village and others. - Durban, South Africa, Africa

Meander Quilters’ Guild.. We have about 35 members who pay $6 a year in subs and $1 door fee. We meet on the last Thursday of each month in St Luke’s Church Hall, Harvard Street, Howick at 13h45. We generally have a guest speaker/workshop leader for each meeting. We make at least one quilt for a fundraiser for a charitable organization (usually local). Each year we have an auction for members, and at each general meeting there are raffle prizes along with member prizes. We have fat quarter swap, international DJ swap, classes and yearly 2 exhibitions. We also have a sponsored small group of jobless women. We would like to make a big benefit show for a Children Hospice-House. We meet every third Thursday of the month from 10:00 am till noon at Sikh Union Community Centre on ForrestRoad, Nairobi. The Kenya Quilt Guild is a vibrant cosmopolitan group of people who love the art of quilting. The largest group is based in and around Nairobi where meetings are held monthly. Kenya Quilt Guild meetings are held each month, except August and December, on the 3rd Thursday. We meet at the Sikh Union. Approach from Westlands, cross Limuru Road, and take the sliproad down to the left. Sikh Union is near Premier Academy. Meetings include guest speakers, demonstrations, or workshops along with the regular business. There are occasional opportunities to buy fabrics, quilting magazines, and other quilt-related items at the meetings. The Guild has a comprehensive library. Books can be checked out by the members for an annual fee of kes 2000/- Smaller groups meet regularly at members’ homes and offer each advice and support on their individual projects.
