The Allen Quilters’ Guild is a 501(c)(3) organization, that promotes the knowledge of all aspects of quilting including the heritage, education, art, and friendship of quilting. Desert Sky Quilters meets at the Sunshine House Senior Center, East Holland Avenue-across from Porter’s Thriftway. We have about 35 members and meet on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays of each month from 10-4:00 pm. We hold a quilt show the red week of March displaying member’s quilts made during the year. There are no dues to be a member of the guild. We make care quilts for the Family Crisis Center, victims of fire, cancer patients. illness, Veterans, loss of loved ones. We have an active group of approximately 40 members. We meet the 3rd Monday of the month at 1:00, with social gathering around noon. We typically have a business meeting, Show and Tell, a block raffle for the month, and participate in charitable quilting for local Veterans, nursing homes, and the Children’s Hospital in Houston. We have a Sit and Sew on the Monday through Friday of the third week of the month as interest dictates. Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild is a tax-exempt, non-profit, educational organization. It was first organized in late 1985 by a small group of women interested in quilts and quilting. The number of members has gradually increased to our current membership of over 100 active and honorary members. The mission of the guild is to educate members and the public about quilts and quilting and to support deserving charities.
Funds raised by the Guild are used to bring in nationally and locally recognized speakers to our monthly meetings and workshops. The programs are educational and interesting, providing quilting information on history, techniques, materials, and other aspects of this popular art form. Workshops are offered to further our knowledge.
We sponsor local Brazos county high school seniors with college scholarships (two $1,000 scholarships were presented in 2017) We also support the “Go-Texas” scholarship program (part of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo). Our guild provides a Brazos county “Go-Texan” quilt annually.
The Guild stages a biennial quilt show in the fall of odd-numbered years. A recent show displayed over 100 quilts, including judged entries and special exhibits. Attendees may shop at our Bluebonnet Store which offers goods made and donated by our members, as wells as supporting the numerous other vendors who participate in our show.
Each year the Care Quilt Committee coordinates the donation of time & resources to create care quilts. These quilts are distributed within our community, providing comfort to both children and adults. Organizations we assist include but are not limited to: Phoebe’s Home, The Prenatal Clinic, St. Joseph’s Cancer Center, Hospice Brazos Valle, Child Protective Service &, American Red Cross local disaster relief. Over 300 care quilts were distributed last year.
The guild meets monthly on the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Sign-in & social time begins at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is in the American Legion Post 159, 101 Waco St, Bryan, Texas 77803. Our membership is made up of people who love quilts and have an interest in their history as well as promoting this popular and beautiful craft. Then we have Show and Tell, our business meeting and usually a presentor. We also have a community sew day at the Van Zandt County Library the 2nd Friday of every month from 12-4, and the 4th Monday of every month from 9-1. You do not have to be a Guild Member to join us at the library. Yearly membership is $25. We are a split guild to accommodate those who need to come at different time. Panola Squares meet at 10 AM on the 2nd Thursday of each month. In 2021 members participated in Community Service projects making baby quilts, veterans’ quilts, holiday stockings, port pillows, tote bags, walker bags, and pillowcases for organizations such as UTMB Hospital, Santa Fe ISD, and M.I. Lewis Social Service Center. We have a yearly raffle quilt, Sew-In Days, Schoolhouse, and invite speakers to some of our meetings. Visitors are always welcome. The purpose of the guild is: 1. Plano
The Quilters Guild of Plano exists to bring together people who share a love of quilts and quilting. Together we learn from national and local quilt teachers and speakers, and share our work with each other and the community. All levels of quilters are encouraged to join us, including beginners. Several quilts have been made over the years to celebrate landmarks of time we have been together.
Monthly meetings of the Quilters Guild of Plano (QGP) include a short business discussion, announcements of future events, special projects, show and tell, and various entertaining activities with door prize drawings. Other QGP activities include an annual raffle quilt, mini-quilt silent auction and Quilt Show in August, workshops from local and national speakers, retreats, quilting small groups and various community services activities.
The Quilters Guild of Plano meets in person on the second Thursday of each month. Social time starts at 6:15pm, and the meeting starts at 7:00pm. In person meeting is at Hunters Glen Baptist Church, 4001 Custer Rd., Plano, TX 75025 (west side of the Custer, between Parker and Spring Creek). The Calhoun County Quilt Guild was established on October 25, 1988. The purpose of the guild is to promote the art of quilting by information, study, teaching, and preservation. HISTORY: The first meeting of the Rio Grande Valley Quilt Guild was in September 1981, with 10 in attendance. Since that time the guild has grown into a membership of 420+ members. PURPOSE: is to encourage the art of quilting and related needle arts, to provide instructions for its members, and to be a gathering place for people with this common interest..
